For over 20 years, Honey Pot Performance has worked hard to support and uplift BIPOC communities, always making sure that BIPOC artists and scholars are leading the way in our organization. Through performances, sharing knowledge, archiving, and engaging with the public humanities, we create a space where the perspectives of artists of color are front and center. Our work focuses on how people navigate their identity, sense of belonging, and differences in their lives and communities.
Each year, we invite communities to join us through collective storytelling, archiving, and creative exploration—offering space to express, mark intentions, challenge societal norms, and expand together. This year our focus roots community storytelling and performance through themes of joy as we research and develop our new project, Pleasure Power Portal. We also continue our longstanding public humanities work with the Chicago Black Social Culture Map, inviting communities to chronicle and preserve the lived experiences of Black Chicagoans, from the Great Migration through the rise and future of House music.
Your donation supports the work we do with West and South side communities—residents, creatives, organizers, leaders, scholars, historians, and healers of all walks—helping us create meaningful opportunities for personal and collective growth. This work has a lasting impact, empowering communities to break barriers and shape a future where our voices are heard, valued, and celebrated.
We understand the urgency of this work in these times. Our communities are actively under multiple threats to silence our complex identities and lived experiences. Join us in building a future where our collective voice and power flourishes. We are the solutions we have been waiting for. Support today and help us continue this essential work preserving our history, our culture, and our humanity.
