Born in 1970 on December 18th in Chicago, Illinois. Reborn in 1982, when his brother, Raymond brought home two turntables, mixer & a reel to reel. It wasn’t until a year later before Raymond let Jo de touch the equipment. Listening to the mixes he brought from the Warehouse and other various sources gave Jo de a path and an ear for blending and technique.
By 1984, househeads knew him from the music blaring from the second floor apartment and began to asked him to dj at parties. In 1986, Jo de’s family moved to the westside of Chicago. There he met Charlie Brown and together formed a group called Square One. Which the members are still in contact with each other. Later that same year, Quik Claude, a promoter, approached Jo de to be the resident dj at DiVinci Manor along with James ‘Housetrane’ Hunter, DJ Pat, and Raymond (no relations). Under Quik Cluade, Jo de dj’ed at numerous places across Chicago along side famous djs such as Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk, Lil‘ Louis, Gene Hunt, Mike ‘Hitman’ Wilson, Bad Boy Bill, Terry Hunter, Ron Carroll, and the Legendary Ron Hardy. That continued until late 1989.
Attending college, meeting friends and growing a family has not persuaded him to lose the love for dj’ing. In fact, it helped norture the passion inside him. Giving him a deeper reason to share and keep that eternal vinyl rotating inside his soul.
